Kiko Matthews | Rowing Athletes
Sponsored by ARMOR-X

Name: Kiko Matthews
Sports: Rowing
New Challenge: Rowing solo and unsupported, 3000 miles across the Atlantic

In 2009, Kiko Matthews was diagnosed with a disease called Cushing’s, caused by a tumour on the pituitary gland, putting her body into a life-threatening state. She was barely strong enough to climb the stairs or get myself out of a bath. Diabetes, insomnia, memory loss, psychosis, muscle wasting, osteoporosis, spots, excessive hair growth and puffiness in the face. 8 years on, she want to live her life and challenge her mind and body to see what they are now capable of.

In January 2018, Kiko will be rowing solo and unsupported, 3000 miles across the Atlantic. Not only does she plan to raise £100,000 for King’s College Hospital with the row – after they saved her life when she was struck with a rare disease – but she plans to break the female world record for a solo Atlantic crossing in a world record time of 45 days – 11 days less than the current record of 56 days.

ARMOR-X officially throws support behind Kiko to complete her challenge. If you want to support her Charity campaign, please visit www.kikomatthews.co.uk
